ποΈ Meet OLD DOG
Every Song Starts With a Story...
Some will make you laugh. Some will make you dance. Some might bring back a memory you forgot you had. Others may remind you that you're not alone.
Some will make you laugh.
Some will make you dance.
Some might bring back a memory you forgot you had.
Others may remind you that you're not alone.
That's why I make music.
It Started Long Before OLD DOG
Most people think my music journey started with AI.
It didn't.
Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
Back in high school, I bought a sound system from a neighbor and started putting on weekend dances at the old academy in my hometown. Every weekend I'd haul in the equipment, play music, charge five dollars at the door, and watch people forget about the outside world for a few hours.
By the time I graduated, I'd saved enough to pay for two years of college.
Looking back, I guess I've always loved bringing people together through music. The way I do it has changed over the years, but the reason hasn't.

The Kid Who Never Stopped Imagining
I've always had a pretty active imagination.
Growing up in rural Idaho during the '70s and '80s, our home sat near a lake, and the closest kid lived a couple of miles away. There wasn't always someone around to play with, so I learned to entertain myself.
I made up stories.
I imagined adventures.
I found humor in the little things.
Looking back, I don't think I ever stopped doing that.
Even today, I'll watch a zombie movie and wonder what that poor zombie is thinking.
He's probably just hungry.
That's just how my brain works.
Life gives us enough reasons to be serious without asking for more. I believe laughter is just as important as tears, and sometimes a three-minute song can do more for someone than a long conversation.
That's why my music is all over the place.
One day I might write a heartfelt ballad.
The next day it could be an '80s rock anthem.
Then a funny country song.
Or a song about one of my dogs.
If the story is worth telling, I'll find the music that fits it.
I don't write songs to fit a genre.
I write songs to fit a story.
Because every story deserves its own soundtrack.
A Backyard Cookout Changed Everything
Fast forward a few decades...
I was at a backyard cookout with friends, and we were playing around with AI, making funny pictures just to see what it could do. Someone asked if it could write a song, and it came up with a cute little tune.
I remember thinking,
"That was pretty cool."
For days, I couldn't get the idea out of my head.
I had notebooks filled with stories, ideas, and bits of writing collected over the years, and I started wondering...
"Could I turn some of these into real songs?"
That one question started me on a journey I never expected.
At first, I thought I'd type in a few words and a great song would magically appear.
I couldn't have been more wrong.
Finding the right tools was only the beginning. I basically had to go back to school. I spent countless hours watching YouTube videos, reading, experimenting, failing, and trying again. The more I learned, the more respect I gained for musicians, singers, producers, engineers, and songwriters.
There is no replacing real artists.
AI doesn't write my stories.
It doesn't create my vision.
It doesn't replace musicians.
It simply helps me bring the music that's already in my head to life.
Some songs come together in a day.
Others take weeksβor even monthsβof rewriting lyrics, changing styles, trying different vocalists, and refining every detail until they finally sound the way I imagined them.
I don't settle for "good enough."
When you hear an OLD DOG song, you're hearing something I've lived with, thought about, and worked on until it felt right.

More Than Just Songs
If you've listened to more than a couple of my songs, you've probably noticed something...
I don't stay in one lane.
One day I might release a hard rock anthem.
The next might be a country song that makes you laugh.
Then comes an emotional ballad, a dance track, an '80s-inspired rocker, or a song about my dogs.
That's intentional.
Life doesn't happen in just one genre.
Neither do I.
Every song starts with a story.
Sometimes it's something I've lived.
Sometimes it's something I've seen.
Sometimes it's just one crazy thought that refuses to leave my head until I turn it into music.
If it makes me laugh...
Makes me think...
Or makes me feel something...
There's a pretty good chance it'll eventually become a song.
I don't chase trends.
I chase ideas.
Because somewhere out there, someone else has probably had the same thought, lived the same moment, or needed the same smile.
That's who I'm writing for.
One Last Thing...
If you've made it this far...
Thank you.
Whether you stream one song or every song...
Whether you smile, laugh, cry, dance around your kitchen, or just find three minutes to escape life for a little while...
Then I've done exactly what I hoped to do.
I'm not chasing fame.
I'm not chasing fortune.
I'm just sharing the stories rattling around inside my head and hoping one of them becomes part of yours.
And if I ever make my first dollar from music...
Don't worry...
I'll try not to spend it all in one place...
Although... judging by this picture... there's a pretty good chance it'll be spent on food.
Now turn it up! π΅
